Damian Bao Casting is currently searching globally for captivating talent, ages 18-70, for FORGE, an art crime dark comedy feature film. FORGE is a Film Independent supported story with class, greed and ambition at the heart of the characters’ conflicts.

SYNOPSIS: Siblings Raymond and Coco Zhang run an art forgery ring in Miami. When they cross paths with millionaire Holden Lawrence, they are coerced into creating counterfeit masterpieces. Meanwhile, FBI agent Emily Lee moves to Florida to investigate a new string of art forgeries.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: FORGE is a dark comedy that deals with authenticity and identity, in art and in people. FORGE tackles the myth of the model minority, centering on Asian American characters who are unmistakably human. The Zhangs are forgers, and therefore, criminals. We live in a society where appearances and being “ahead” of others are at the forefront of our minds. FORGE is a tragi-comedy, a cautionary tale about how the rat race of modernity has the ability to destroy beautiful things—whether that be art, family, or relationships. FORGE is a tale of greed and youth set in Miami, a story of how a young woman’s ambitions leads to the destruction of her passion for art and eventually, her family.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Jing Ai Ng is a writer & director based in Los Angeles. Raised between Malaysia and Miami, she brings a global perspective to her storytelling. Her latest project, short film DELTA, recently won Gold at the Young Directors Award at Cannes Lions 2023. She participated in Film Independent’s Screenwriters Lab, where she developed her art crime feature script FORGE. Her short film FLECK won the Grand Prize at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Student Film Awards. Jing graduated from the American Film Institute Conservatory with a MFA in Directing, and is an alumni of Telluride Film Festival’s Symposium. Her films have played at over 50 festivals worldwide.

PRODUCTION NOTE: Filming will start around May 6th for 4-6 weeks in the Miami metro area pending the availability of the main lead and supporting cast. This will be a paid casting opportunity under the SAG Low Budget Agreement. Production will provide roundtrip flight, lodging, and local transportation for talent based outside Miami.

CASTING NOTE: Casting is open to actors and non-actors for all roles. Talent does not have to have prior acting experience to apply. Open to union and non-union talent. First time actors are welcome to apply!
